Position Information
Palm Ave School is a specialist school within the NSW Centre for Effective Reading. The NSW Centre for Effective Reading (NSW CER) is a NSW Department of Education and NSW Health initiative. NSW CER is a statewide service for students referred from eligible government and non-government schools. NSW CER supports primary aged, rural and remote students with complex reading difficulties who have been identified and accepted for a direct service.

Teachers work as part of a multi-disciplinary team of specialist staff including teachers, speech pathologists and school psychologists, to provide assessment and intervention services to primary school age students with complex reading and language difficulties from rural and remote areas of NSW. This includes the administration of reading assessments (either face-to-face or remotely) for students with identified complex reading difficulties, reporting on the results of assessments and leading the development and delivery of evidence-based interventions.

Location – NSW Centre for Effective Reading site (Westmead, Dubbo or Wagga Wagga NSW).

Successful applicants must be willing to travel in order to support schools and school communities.


Selection Criteria
Approval to teach Infants and Primary, and experience teaching students with learning and support needs (primary) and reading difficulties, with exemplary teaching expertise in evidence-based practices to support students and teaching staff.
Outstanding communication, organisation and interpersonal skills with the ability to use ICT to engage proactively and professionally with a range of stakeholders.
Capacity to deliver professional learning, provide individualised advice and ongoing assistance for teaching and school personnel, to support students with reading difficulties.
Understanding of, and sensitivity to, the educational goals of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students, their families and communities, as well as students in rural and remote communities of NSW.

Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

All Department of Education employees working in an SSP are required to be vaccinated as outlined at Vaccination requirements for school sites (nsw.gov.au). The successful candidate for this position will be required to confirm vaccination status prior to the department finalising their appointment and entry on duty. Special Notes
Applicants are to include details of their WWCC clearance number as part of this application.
