Supports the Assistant General Counsel in the management of the Division of Business and Administrative Law, including participating with the Assistant General Counsel in the overall planning and establishment of Division goals and objectives
Assists the Division’s Assistant General Counsel in managing the day-to-day activities of Division staff, including overseeing the quantity and quality of the work performed, supporting efficient and economical work operations, and providing advice and guidance to Division staff as needed
Advises senior Department officials, and other OGC attorneys, on complex, novel and cross-cutting legal issues that require familiarity with the statutory, regulatory, policy and administrative bases of numerous Departmental programs
Serves as the Department’s representative, with the Department of Justice, in Federal litigation involving the administration of Department of Education programs
Anticipates potential legal issues and develops strategies to avoid these difficulties without interfering with the capacity of Department of Education officials to carry out their statutory responsibilities
