STAFF ACCOUNTANT

Company: Canfisco Group (www.canfisco.com)

Location: Vancouver, BC (free employee parking)

Reports To: Accounting Manager

Annual Salary: $70,000 - $75,000, commensurate with job-related knowledge, skills, and experience

Office Hours: 8 am – 4.30 pm; Onsite, flexible start and end time

Annual Vacation: 3 weeks

THE ROLE:

The Staff Accountant is part of the Vancouver head office team and works closely with the Controller and Accounting Manager to support B.C. operations. Job duties are dynamic and involve many moving parts. This position requires attention to detail, a high degree of accuracy, strong communication skills, and a collaborative approach.

IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES:

o Accounting professional with 5 years of progressive experience.

o Degree or Diploma in accounting or finance.

o Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, including pivot tables, lookup functions, and

data management.

o Experience in inventory tracking, raw material allocation, and finished goods costing.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Inventory purchasing, raw material allocation, and finished goods costing.
• Inventory reconciliations.
• Bank reconciliations.
• Prepaids, interledger, and intercompany reconciliations
• Maintain fixed asset ledger, amortization schedule, and calculate gain/loss on disposal.
• Support monthly/quarterly closing activities, including reconciling various balance sheet accounts and preparing lead sheets, liaising with the external auditor.
• Prepare periodic journal entries for adjustments and accruals.
• Prepare various analytical reports as directed.
• Other duties and special projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION /EXPERIENCE / SKILLS):

o 5 years of progressive accounting experience required.

o Business degree or diploma with a specialization in accounting or finance.
• Inventory management experience required (i.e., production orders, inventory reconciliation, etc.).
• Knowledge of ERP (i.e., Microsoft Dynamics series) is an asset.

o Team player who can work in a fast-paced environment to meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent follow-up, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy to ensure high-quality of work.
• Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
