About the Role
Qubist Solutions is looking for an experienced Senior System Safety & Reliability Engineer to join our Aerospace & Defence engineering team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in system safety assessment, reliability engineering, and certification activities for safety-critical avionics systems. You will play a key role in ensuring compliance with international aerospace safety standards while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
System Safety Engineering
Lead and perform system safety assessments, including:Functional Hazard Assessment (FHA)Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)Common Cause Analysis (CCA)Execute safety analyses in accordance with ARP4761 guidelines.Define, allocate, and maintain system safety requirements and safety cases in compliance with ARP4754A.Ensure end-to-end traceability of safety-critical requirements across hardware, software, and system development activities.Perform safety and reliability modelling using ANSYS Medini Analyze (preferred) or equivalent safety analysis tools.Reliability Engineering
Conduct reliability predictions, analyses, and modelling to evaluate:System availabilityFailure ratesMean Time Between Failures (MTBF)Support Design-for-Reliability (DfR) initiatives by identifying potential failure mechanisms and recommending design improvements.Perform quantitative reliability analyses using industry-standard methodologies and tools.Ensure compliance with aerospace reliability and regulatory requirements.Certification & Compliance
Support certification activities with aviation regulatory authorities such as EASA and FAA.Prepare and maintain:Safety Assessment Reports (SAR)Compliance MatricesCertification documentationEnsure compliance with aerospace safety standards, including:DO-178C (Software)DO-254 (Hardware)ARP4754A (System Development)ARP4761 (Safety Assessment)Participate in technical audits, design reviews, and certification boards.Cross-functional Collaboration
Work closely with system, software, hardware, and verification teams to integrate safety and reliability throughout the development lifecycle.Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers on safety and reliability engineering methodologies.Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to ensure safety and certification milestones are achieved within project schedules.Required Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.812 years of hands-on experience in System Safety and Reliability Engineering for avionics, aerospace, or other safety-critical systems.Strong experience performing FHA, FMEA, FTA, and CCA in accordance with ARP4754A and ARP4761.Solid understanding of aerospace functional safety and certification standards, including:DO-178CDO-254ARP4754AARP4761Experience preparing safety cases, certification documentation, and compliance reports for aerospace or avionics programs.Hands-on experience with one or more safety and reliability analysis tools such as:ANSYS Medini AnalyzeIsographReliaSoftFaultTree+SCADE SafetyExcellent analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and technical writing skills.Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams.Preferred Skills
Experience working with EASA or FAA certification programs.Knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) concepts.Exposure to complex embedded, avionics, or mission-critical systems.Experience supporting complete product development and certification lifecycles.
