🔹 Position Title
Senior Engineer – Design
Department: Design
Location: Surat, Gujarat
Reports to: Design Head / Engineering Manager
🔹 Profile Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Design Engineer from the fabrication industry who can lead and mentor the design team. The ideal candidate must be proficient in multiple design and analysis software including AutoCAD (2D & 3D), SolidWorks, Staad Pro, and Tekla, and have hands-on experience in nesting operations and PCL (Part Cutting List). The candidate should have a strong understanding of structural and fabrication drawings and be capable of driving design efficiency, accuracy, and team coordination.
🔹 Key Roles & Responsibilities
• Lead the design team in creating detailed fabrication drawings and models.
• Review project specifications and coordinate with project, estimation, and production teams.
• Ensure accuracy and quality of all design deliverables including PCL, BOQ, and nested drawings.
• Oversee and implement efficient nesting processes to minimize material waste.
• Perform structural analysis and validations using Staad Pro or relevant tools.
• Coordinate and validate Tekla models for fabrication and erection.
• Drive standardization, process improvement, and documentation in the design workflow.
• Provide guidance, training, and performance feedback to junior engineers and draftsmen.
• Ensure timely submission of drawings as per project schedules.
• Communicate with clients, consultants, or vendors on design-related matters when required.
🔹 Key Skills Required
• Leadership and team management capabilities
• Strong understanding of fabrication processes and structural design
• Knowledge of steel structures, sheet metal design, and welding symbols
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and multitask
🔹 Technical Knowledge
• Structural and fabrication drawing standards
• Steel grades, thicknesses, and fabrication tolerances
• Nesting logic, material optimization, and part identification
• PCL (Part Cutting List) generation and validation
• BOM (Bill of Materials) accuracy and coordination
🔹 IT & Software Skills
• AutoCAD (2D & 3D) – Mandatory
• SolidWorks – Mandatory
• Staad Pro – For structural analysis
• Tekla Structures – For detailed fabrication modeling
• Nesting Software – Preferred (e.g., SigmaNEST, Hypertherm ProNest)
• MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
🔹 Qualification & Experience
• Education: Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or relevant field
• Experience: Minimum 5 to 10 years of experience in a design role within the fabrication industry
