The Tax accountant – India Tax Operations will report into the Lead - Tax and will be based out of Chennai, India. This is a critical and challenging position as it will be responsible for tax operations, reporting and compliance across all of Freshworks’ global operations in numerous countries. It provides immense opportunity for the right candidate for learning, taking on additional challenges and growing with the overall taxation as well as the
overall finance organisation
• Ensure prompt and timely filing of all Indirect tax returns and other compliances such as VAT, GST.
• Work with the Revenue departments and the external tax partners for Indirect tax refunds and assessments.
• Support the local internal teams on different aspects of Indirect taxes such as eligibility of claiming credits with respect to different services obtained, accounting for indirect taxes (on forward, reverse charge basis) etc.
• Maintain a Summary Reconciliation and Tax Return Item Memo.
• Tax accounting and financial reporting: Support the accurate preparation of the Company’s Indirect tax accounting for financial statement purposes.
Qualifications
• 3-5 years of Experience with Degree in Chartered Accountant or CA Inter with an emphasis on Indirect taxes
• Thorough knowledge of GST laws and provisions in India from both a technical and practical perspective.
• Broad knowledge of US and International indirect tax laws and principles.
• GAAP Financial Accounting
• Knowledge of principles of taxation (both direct and Indirect taxes): Global Effective Tax Rates, Transfer Pricing, Concept of nexus,
• Permanent Establishment, withholding taxes, taxation on stock based
• compensation, deferred taxes etc.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective presentation skills.
• Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• A proactive, high energy attitude geared towards achieving continuous
• improvement.
• Adaptability and ability to operate in a fast paced, rapidly evolving global tax law environment, and a data driven organization.
