This posting will be used to fill 1 permanent full time positions, working 75 hours bi-weekly. It will establish a 12-month eligibility list which may be used to fill similar positions.

This job is based in the thriving and diverse city of Whitehorse in the beautiful Yukon.


Your role

The Income Support Unit is looking for motivated, collaborative Social Workers who are committed to providing supports to clients who require assistance in the areas of income support, employment, and crisis management.

These positions provide case management and coordination services, social assistance, employment supports and disability-related supports with the goal of increasing independence and inclusion in the community. Other responsibilities may include: participating in the development and implementation of branch services, and providing liaison and resource assistance to professionals, paraprofessionals, and the general public.

Bachelor’s degree in social work
Experience developing and implementing case plans collaboratively with clients
Experience in social services working directly with complex clients

Sound ethical decision-making skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills

Conditions of employment

You must meet the following conditions before being hired, or within the time frame noted.

Security Clearance with Vulnerable Sector
Valid Class 5 driver’s licence or equivalent,
A copy of Bachelor of Social Work degree

Travel within Whitehorse with the possibility of travel to other communities in Yukon
