Social Media Coordinator (Contract)

About Us
The Upper Village BIA is looking for a creative, reliable, and community-minded Social Media Coordinator to help bring our neighbourhood to life online.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys being out in the community, creating engaging content, and telling stories through short-form video and visuals. You will work closely with the BIA team to showcase local businesses, promote events, and highlight everything that makes Upper Village a vibrant place to visit, shop, and explore.
Key ResponsibilitiesSocial Media Content Creation & Management
Create and manage content across:
Instagram (including Reels)
TikTok
Facebook
Community Content Capture
Visit local businesses within the BIA to:
Record short-form videos (Reels and TikToks)
Capture photos of storefronts, products, events, and experiences
Engage with business owners and community members
Brand Storytelling & Marketing
Develop engaging, on-brand content that highlights:
Local businesses
Events and promotions
Seasonal moments and neighbourhood features
Community initiatives
Design & Content Planning
Create graphics and marketing materials using Canva or similar tools
Assist with content planning and scheduling
Stay current on social media trends and recommend fresh ideas
Collaborate with the BIA team to execute campaigns and initiatives
Qualifications
We’re looking for someone who:
Has experience creating content for social media, especially short-form video
Is comfortable working on-site and interacting with local businesses
Understands Instagram Reels and TikTok trends
Has graphic design skills (Canva or similar platforms)
Has a strong eye for visuals, storytelling, and branding
Can work independently and meet deadlines
Is friendly, professional, and community-oriented
Nice to Have
Experience working with BIAs, local businesses, or community events
Video editing experience
Photography skills
Experience with scheduling tools (e.g. Meta Business Suite)
Familiarity with AI tools
