Social Media Assistant
Job Description
We’re looking for a Social Media Assistant who is equal parts creative, organized, and confident on camera. This is not a behind the scenes role. We are looking for someone who will be one of the most visible faces of the brand through video content and community engagement.
This is a part-time role with an opportunity for growth.
What You’ll Do
1. Content Creation + Social Media
Create engaging short-form and long-form content for social media platforms including blogs, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Pinterest, and YouTube.
Plan, film, edit, and publish content aligned with our brand voice and marketing calendar.
Develop creative content ideas that showcase products, workshops, and behind-the-scenes moments.
Participate in content creation as an on-camera presenter and brand representative.
Monitor trends and recommend new content opportunities and platform strategies.
2. Influencer + Community Engagement
Identify and connect with influencers and creators in the sewing, fabric, DIY style, and maker communities
Coordinate product collaborations, promotions, and content partnerships.
Help track influencer performance and campaign results.
Engage our online community through comments, messages, and interactions.
Grow our follower count across our platforms.
3. Events + Marketing Support
Assist in promoting workshops, events, launches, and special campaigns.
Capture photo and video content during in-studio activities.
Support broader marketing initiatives as required.
Who You Are
Love of sewing, garment construction, or fashion design.
Experience creating engaging content across multiple social media platforms.
Comfortable and confident appearing on camera.
Some photo and video editing skills.
Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects and deadlines.
Strong written communication skills.
Bonus (Not Required, But Valuable)
Experience with Meta Business Suite, Ads Manager, or similar social media management tools.
Familiarity with social media analytics.
Knowledge of Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar editing software.
Sewing, fashion design, and maker experience.
Existing involvement in sewing, textile and/or fashion design creator communities.
Role Structure
Part-time (20 hours/week to start)
Hybrid work: Some in-person work at our Edmonton studio is required to capture content. Administrative tasks, planning, editing, and content scheduling may be completed remotely after a review period.
