Job Responsibilities:
Interpret Blueprints and Plans:
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to understand project requirements
Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of materials needed
Carpentry and Construction:
Construct, install, and repair structures and fixtures made of wood, plywood, and wallboard
Build and install cabinets, shelving, windows, doors, and trim
Construct building frameworks, including walls, floors, and doorframes
Precision and Detail:
Ensure all work is done with accuracy, meeting high standards of quality and craftsmanship
Use hand and power tools to measure, cut, shape, and smooth lumber and other materials
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe work environment
Comply with building codes and regulations
Team Collaboration:
Work collaboratively with other carpenters, contractors, and construction workers
Communicate effectively with clients, supervisors and project managers regarding project progress and any issues that arise
Requirements:
Proven experience as a carpenter
Proficient in using hand and power tools
Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques and methods, including installation and construction
Ability to accurately read blueprints and technical drawings
Sense of humor
High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an apprenticeship or vocational training preferred
Skills:
Excellent attention to detail
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Time management and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Good communication abilities
Working Conditions:
Work environments include both indoors & outdoor assignments depending on the project
May involve working at heights and in various weather conditions
Overtime and weekend work may be required to meet project deadlines only on rare occurrences
