Position Summary:

The Halton District School Board is looking for a dedicated, creative and strategic marketing professional. The Senior Officer - Marketing will play a pivotal role in shaping and communicating the HDSB’s identity, brand, program offerings and value to internal and external audiences, focusing on strategic marketing efforts that directly support schools to drive engagement and foster community relationships. The individual will have versatile skills to lead efforts to directly support student recruitment and retention and connect meaningfully with students, staff and families and the broader community through coordinated and innovative marketing strategies that showcase the HDSB’s strengths, highlight successes and support student success, in alignment with the Multi-Year Strategic Plan. The individual will be instrumental in crafting a unified narrative that positions the HDSB as the top choice for education in Halton and beyond, contributing to the short and long-term success and growth of the school board.

In accordance with this Administrative Procedure and with the approval of the immediate supervisor, employees who work at HDSB administrative sites may work from home for up to 50% of their regularly scheduled hours. Work from Home arrangements may change based on the future needs of the Board. The HDSB offers funding for professional development in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of Employment for management and administration support staff.



Key Responsibilities:

Campaign creation and execution - plan and implement marketing campaigns targeting students, staff, families. Also includes training staff and equipping staff with resources to effectively market and communicate to key audiences

Social media and content management - oversee management of school social media platforms and website content to ensure active, relevant, coordinated and timely content and engagement.

Conduct market research and collect and analyze data on digital and other marketing efforts

Content creation and branding - support the HDSB’s efforts in storytelling (writing, video, news releases, newsletters, website copy, graphics, etc.) by creating compelling content for various platforms.

Event promotion and management - support promotion and marketing of school events and programs that engage students and families and community involvement.

Media relations - enhance relationships with local media to promote initiatives and storytelling.



Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications or a related field

Proven experience (3-5 years) in marketing, branding, advertising and communications, preferably within the education sector or a non-profit environment

Experience leading comprehensive marketing campaigns using digital and print materials

Strong research and writing skills with a knack for storytelling

Well organized, aria-level="1"

A team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with many stakeholders

Familiarity with K-12 education systems, school boards and educational programs is highly desirable and preferred

Strategic Marketing: Ability to develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies aligned with the HDSB's goals and Multi-Year Strategic Plan

Brand Management: Experience in shaping and maintaining a strong organizational identity and brand

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for crafting narratives and engaging diverse audiences

Content Creation: Proficiency in creating compelling content (e.g. written and video) for various platforms, including social media, newsletters and promotional materials.

Digital Marketing: Familiarity with digital marketing tools and strategies, including social media management

Data Driven: Experience collecting and analyzing data to inform and drive campaigns

Creativity: Innovative thinking to develop unique marketing initiatives that showcase the HDSB’s strengths

Collaboration: Experience working in cross-functional teams to support schools, programming and initiatives.

Preferred:

Education Sector Knowledge: Understanding of the education landscape and challenges faced by schools and communities.

Event Planning: Experience in organizing community engagement events and promotional activities.
