Responsibilities include:

Leadership – Accountable for contributing to the day-to-day operations of the team, including ongoing business advice and guidance. As a key member of the Risk Management team, you will lead, mentor, support and advise others across our business as they learn and grow in their roles across the Lines of Defence model.

Risk Oversight and assurance - Lead the oversight and assurance of Treasury and Capital risk management activities, including liquidity, funding, capital adequacy, interest rate risk, and counterparty credit risk, to ensure risks are effectively identified, assessed, and managed. Provide independent challenge and assurance on the adequacy of the risk framework, delivering insights and recommendations that strengthen Executive and Board decision-making. Contribute to the oversight of treasury and capital risk models. Manage the review of Financial and Market Risk related self-assessments against APRA prudential standards to ensure controls are adequately demonstrating compliance is met.
Risk Analytics, reporting and Insights - Develop, produce and/or contribute to regular and ad-hoc risk reporting as is required for regulators, boards, committees, executive management, and leadership teams. You will oversee that all risk events are accurately recorded, managed, monitored, escalated, and reported upon. You prepare and produce risk insights that identify trends, patterns and concentration to interpret changes to the risk profile and high inherent risks that would have a material impact for Great Southern Bank. This will require you to lead targeted pieces of work to facilitate effective Risk Management reporting and engagement with Management and the Board.
Stakeholder management - Influence and collaborate with Line 1 stakeholders to ensure that risk considerations are embedded into strategic and financial risk decision-making.
You will oversee that all risk events are accurately recorded, managed, monitored, escalated, and reported upon.
Continuous Improvement - Champion a culture of constructive challenge and innovation, driving continuous enhancement of risk practices. Leverage professional networks, research, and training to introduce fresh perspectives and improve quality outcomes across the function. Responsible for ensuring business changes are effectively embedded into risk frameworks.
Do things differently with us

To succeed in this role, you will have:

Over 10 years' experience in a market risk, treasury risk, or balance sheet risk management within a regulated financial institution within the Financial Services sector, with a proven ability to deliver results.
Deep analytical expertise in understanding impact of financial instruments across interest rate, liquidity, credit, and financial risk perspectives.
Deep technical knowledge of liquidity, capital, IRRBB, and counterparty credit risk.
Demonstrated ability to provide strategic leadership in developing and guiding policies and procedures that support and align with the Board risk appetite.
Skilled in managing and influencing diverse stakeholders at various levels, balancing competing priorities and aligning expectations.
Strong relationship-building capability, with the ability to engage credibly and communicate risk insights with clarity and impact.
Strong knowledge of relevant financial services regulatory and compliance considerations
Strategic thinking and ability to deliver solutions to risk issues
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence various stakeholders
