Job Description

The Senior Legal Counsel will be responsible for delivering strategic legal advice, breaking down complexities for different audiences, and building and maintaining credible relationships internally and externally. This includes providing expert guidance on litigation management and cost management to the wider team and key stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a strong intellect with well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Law Degree and current practicing certificate required
10 years of legal experience, ideally with 7 of those years in litigation and dispute resolution
In-house experience, ideally in the government sector
Ability to provide solutions-focused operational and strategic legal advice on a wide range of dispute and litigation matters
Understanding of the Crown Entity framework
Experience writing a wide variety of documents, including board papers, briefings, and legal advice
Ability to work alongside and develop relationships of trust and confidence with the Board, leadership teams, and staff
