Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Contract Lawyer to join our Legal Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the development of commercial contracts, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies. The ideal candidate will have experience in drafting and negotiating business process outsourcing agreements, software licensing contracts, and other commercial contracts.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in reviewing and drafting commercial contracts, including client software licence and maintenance agreements and client administration services agreements.
Collaborate with sales teams to develop effective contract strategies.
Provide initial advice on disputes and claims involving the company, while coordinating with the separate litigation function.
Participate in risk management activities, including attendance at risk committees as required.
Maintain and update legal templates, documentation, and collateral.
Engage in group training, learning, and development initiatives.
Drive process improvements and enhance the efficiency of legal service delivery.
Ensure the business remains compliant with all applicable regulations.
Requirements

Experience collaborating with sales teams, not just procurement.
Strong commercial contract drafting and negotiation expertise, preferably in business process outsourcing and/or software licensing (both SaaS and on premise).
Proficient in Microsoft Word, with familiarity with other Microsoft Office applications being advantageous.
Excellent communication skills, demonstrating professionalism, attention to detail, and clarity in both written and verbal interactions.
Proven ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with internal clients (including sales and commercial teams) and external stakeholders.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, meeting tight deadlines.
Knowledge of Australian financial services laws and regulations.
Understanding of data protection laws.
Experience in drafting and negotiating IT software contracts.
