Job Responsibilities:
Review, draft, and negotiate legal agreements with clients, suppliers, and other counterparties.
Support the maintenance and enforcement of SSC Group policies and procedures, particularly those governing contract approval and execution.
Participate in risk management activities, including attendance at risk committees as required.
Provide initial advice on disputes and claims involving the company, while coordinating with the separate litigation function.
Assist with mergers, acquisitions, restructuring, and other corporate activities as needed.
Provide legal advice and support to the HR team on staff disputes, claims, grievances, and other employment-related matters.
Drive process improvements and enhance the efficiency of legal service delivery.
Contribute to the administration of the Legal Team, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements and proper document management.
Engage in group training, learning, and development initiatives.
Maintain and update legal templates, documentation, and collateral.
Assist with departmental risk assessments and procedural compliance.
Develop a clear understanding of corporate procedures and the SSC Group structure.
Ensure the business remains compliant with all applicable regulations.
Manage and liaise with external counsel on specific legal matters.
Provide legal support on outsourcing arrangements, ideally with experience in the financial services sector.
Exercise due care and diligence, ensuring all responsibilities are effectively organised and controlled.
Requirements:
Experience collaborating with sales teams, not just procurement.
1 to 3 years PQE, with strong commercial contract drafting and negotiation expertise. Paralegals and contract managers with relevant experience will also be considered.
Proven ability to draft and negotiate commercial contracts, with preferred experience in business process outsourcing and/or software licensing (both SaaS and on premise).
Exceptional communication skills, demonstrating professionalism, attention to detail, and clarity in both written and verbal interactions.
Strong ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with internal clients (including sales and commercial teams) and external stakeholders, bringing a positive and proactive approach.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, with familiarity with other Microsoft Office applications being advantageous.
Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, handle high workloads, and meet tight deadlines effectively.
Knowledge of Australian financial services laws and regulations.
Understanding of data protection laws.
Experience in drafting and negotiating IT software contracts.
Knowledge of revenue recognition principles.
