JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Human Resources Advisor will be a trusted business partner and collaborative advisor on all things people related. The incumbent will join a team of talented HR professionals who provide proactive, practical and valued HR counsel through partnership with AFL leaders, ensuring alignment with corporate culture and business initiatives. s the Senior HR Advisor, you will utilize your solid understanding of the business to resolve organizational issues and develop solutions that drive business outcomes.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESULTING OUTCOMES:

1. Role Breakdown

• 45% HR Consulting/Client Support

• 25% HR Administration

• 15% HR Program Delivery

• 15% HR Projects

2. Gains deep insight into the operation and business of their client group, including strategy, talent levels, opportunities and challenges. Use this knowledge to recommend program, policy and process changes for the broader organization

3. Deliver HR services and provide expertise to clients resulting in a seamless point of contact and ensure successful integration of corporate HR initiatives. This includes but is not limited to talent acquisition (recruitment & sourcing), compliance with all regulations, employee relations, disability & accommodation management, employee engagement, Diversity & Inclusion, employment equity

4. Responsible for disability management, including assisting employees on behalf of AFL when the employees is off work or at risk of being off work for health reasons, assessing any barriers to a successful and timely return-to-work and engages with stakeholders to implement strategies to address those identified barriers and support return to work or an appropriate alternative plan

5. From a people and change management perspective, provide leadership in the areas of team coaching, organizational effectiveness, change readiness and internal communication strategies

6. Partner with HR leaders and internal stakeholders to develop and implement policies and procedures that support standardization and improved compliance with local, provincial, and federal laws, while improving efficiency and effectiveness of the organization. Provide change management leadership to employees throughout business changes

7. Partner with HR leaders to develop and implement policies and procedures that support standardization and improved compliance with all regulatory bodies including the Canada Labour Code, Employment Standards Act and Human Rights, workers compensation, Human Resources and Skills Development Canada local, while improving efficiency and effectiveness of the organization. Provide change management leadership to the site and employees throughout business changes

8. Utilize data from HR metrics and analytics to proactively identify and address issues that impact morale, effectiveness, turnover, absenteeism and productivity; implement early intervention strategies

9. Complete independent projects within the scope of the role to design and implement enhanced HR programs and services

10. Support the HR functional teams and centers of expertise in the planning, implementing, and rolling-out programs, projects and initiatives

11. As a senior member of the team, provides coaching and guidance to more junior HR team members

Qualifications:

• Degree/Diploma in Human Resources Management or Business Administration, with an emphasis on Employee/Industrial Relations, or other related fields

• CPHR designation a definite asset

• 8+ years of experience in a Human Resources generalist role with experience supporting a diverse workforce including Labour/Industrial Relations and Talent Management Skills and Abilities

• Ability to actively listen and understand complex issues

• Ability to influence, inspire, persuade and coach stakeholders on a wide variety of interests and needs

• Be able to handle multiple priorities with professionalism in a fast-paced work environment while maintaining safety and quality

• Customer service and continuous improvement focused

• Ability to see the big picture and broad implications when making decisions

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, one on one and when presenting to a group

• Excellent organizational and project management skills

• Excellent decision-making skills

• Excellent knowledge of HR best practices

• Experience in a unionized environment

• Ability to manage global and multi-site projects

• Ability to develop strong, trusting relationships with colleagues and clients

• Proficiency with computers and computer applications and experience with HRIS systems
