Overview:

The Senior Accounting Consultant is a high-level financial and accounting resource to clients. They direct and work with internal and external accounting staff performing financial reporting, financial analysis, grant management, accounts payable, purchasing, payroll processing, bank account reconciliation, general ledger maintenance, audits, and other accounting and finance related tasks. The Senior Accounting Consultant may supervise a team of Accounting Consultants and mentor less seasoned professionals to foster their individual growth.

Duties:

Manage overall finance and accounting functions for clients.
Assist and oversee annual financial audits for clients.
Review and update finance and accounting policies and procedures.
Perform financial review, analysis, and reporting.
Manage client’s budget preparation, amendment, and maintenance.
Assist with Federal and State grant funds management and reporting – Title funds, Special grant funds, Children Nutrition Programs and Others.
Assist with periodic State data reporting and submission.
Manage and maintain financial and accounting system including general ledger maintenance.
Oversee accounts payable, purchase requisitions, invoice processing, and Form 1099 process.
Review payroll accounting and reconcile payroll liability accounts.
Assist with cash management, grants reporting, bond payment/reporting, and financial reporting.
Manage month end closing and financial statements analysis and reporting for clients.
Research, create, and implement accounting and finance policies and procedures in partnership with staff and clients.
Train and coach staff and client staff on all accounting and financial procedures, keeping up to date on all industry changes in compliance and standards.
Other accounting and finance duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

In depth knowledge of the FASRG and GAAP.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team in a collaborative environment.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of constituents or employees of organization.
Ability and/or willingness to learn to use and understand Microsoft Office for spreadsheets, letters and other written communication in order to effectively communicate information with employees, administration and the Board.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagramal form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to grasp, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Employee must have reliable means of transportation.

Requirements:

Experience in school or non-profit fund accounting required.
CPA strongly preferred.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent preferred.
Minimum 5 years working experience in accounting/finance field.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
