Job Description
A site security officer's job is to keep people and property safe at a site, and they may perform many duties, including:
Patrolling: Walk around the property, equipment, and vehicles, to detect threats and deter crime
Monitoring: Watch surveillance cameras and alarms to detect disruptions or unlawful activity
Responding: Respond to emergencies and alarms
Controlling access: Control who can enter and exit the site area, including staff, visitors, and vehicles.
Screening: Screen guests and employees.
Reporting: Keep records of incidents and observations, and provide reports to management.
Maintaining security: Ensure security equipment and surveillance cameras are working properly, and perform preventive maintenance
Complying with regulations: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
Providing client service: Provide excellent client service and answer questions from visitors
Performing first aid: Perform CPR or first aid when needed
Security officers may work in a variety of places, including construction sites, public and commercial buildings, retail stores, hotels, and event venues. Their duties and responsibilities may vary depending on the employer and the working environment
