The NC DST seeks a Retirement Benefits Education Lead who is a detail-oriented individual, passionate about ensuring accuracy! About Us
The Member Services Department is critical to the operation of RSD in making sure the delivery of technical benefit information and the interpretation of laws, rules, policies and practices are accurate and in alignment with what is in the best interest of the members and for the agency. The Retirement Benefit Counselors in the Educational Retirement Group (ERG) assist more than 3,500 members virtually, conduct over 50 Retirement Readiness webinars and simulcasts, hold more than 180 education Retirement Presentations around the state with over 10,000 attendees nearing retirement per year, as well as answer more than 30,000 e-mails and correspondence inquiries per year.
The Retirement Benefits Education Lead leads and support the Member Services Education Retirement Group in quality management, in coaching and training, in assigning work, in checking for accuracy and managing production, in providing consultative work in interpreting and in explaining benefit program information administered by the Retirement Systems Division, in providing real-time assistance to counselors and others as needed and in providing back-up leadership support for Management as assigned or needed.
Job Duties
Monitors a pre-determined number of calls, email responses, chat interactions, workflow items and counselor presentations per month for each employee and provides regular feedback on noticeable improvements and on areas of opportunity.
Provides real-time support to staff, assisting with answers and/or determining the best way to respond to situations presented, making sure the counselor looks at entitlement, eligibility, obligations, options, benefits, applicable provisions and legislation law.
Provides performance reports to leadership regarding quality, error rates, production, compliance, shadowing observations and overall team professionalism.
Handles escalated case work when next level intervention is required.
Travel required on an as-needed basis to conduct presentations or to monitor a counselor giving a presentation.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
Qualified applicants must possess, and application must clearly reflect work experience that demonstrates the following:
Experience in analyzing data, researching situations, and interpreting general statues.
Experience in managing multiple competing priories.
Experience in general retirement processes.
Experience in assigning work tasks to counselors.

Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three (3) years of experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
