Retail Marketing Manager
Job Description
Location: Selma, NC
Are you a marketer who loves seeing your work come to life?
This is an opportunity to lead marketing for a high-traffic retail destination where seasonal experiences, events, promotions, and customer engagement drive the business. Rather than sitting behind a desk managing a brand from a distance, you'll help create the experiences that bring customers through the door and keep them coming back.
From Spring and Fall promotions to holiday campaigns and major seasonal events, you'll play a central role in shaping the customer experience across the store, online, in email, social media, advertising, and community outreach.
If you enjoy retail, hospitality, attractions, garden centers, experiential environments, or customer-focused businesses where your work has a direct impact on traffic and sales, this could be an excellent fit.
What You'll Do
You'll own the marketing strategy and execution behind a busy retail environment where customer experience and seasonal excitement are at the center of the business.
Marketing Strategy & Campaign Planning
Build and manage the annual marketing calendar, including promotions, seasonal campaigns, events, and major retail initiatives.
Lead planning and execution for key selling seasons, including Spring, Fall, holidays, and other high-traffic periods.
Develop campaigns that drive customer traffic, engagement, and store visits.
Partner with store leadership and department teams to align marketing efforts with business priorities and customer needs.
Keep projects organized with clear timelines, priorities, and follow-through.
Customer Experience & Brand Marketing
Help shape the overall customer experience through marketing, promotions, events, and in-store messaging.
Ensure consistent brand presentation across advertising, signage, social media, email, website content, and in-store communications.
Develop seasonal themes, campaign concepts, and promotional messaging that create excitement and encourage repeat visits.
Coordinate photography, creative assets, and content that bring campaigns and customer experiences to life.
Digital Marketing
Oversee email marketing campaigns, newsletters, promotional messaging, and content calendars.
Guide social media strategy and content planning across multiple platforms.
Maintain website content, seasonal updates, promotions, event information, and customer communications.
Monitor engagement, campaign performance, website activity, and customer response to improve future marketing efforts.
Advertising, Events & Community Engagement
Coordinate local advertising initiatives, community partnerships, sponsorships, and traffic-driving promotions.
Support major seasonal events, launches, and customer experiences that generate excitement and increase store traffic.
Build relationships with vendors, media partners, community organizations, and other external marketing resources.
Evaluate marketing channels and activities to ensure resources are focused on what drives results.
Leadership & Execution
Lead and organize a small marketing team while helping prioritize projects and seasonal initiatives.
Coordinate multiple marketing activities simultaneously during busy retail periods.
Help establish structure, accountability, and efficient execution within the marketing function.
Work closely with creative, print, signage, and production resources to ensure projects are completed accurately and on time.
What Makes You a Great Fit
We care more about your ability to create engaging retail experiences and execute successful campaigns than having a specific corporate marketing background.
Retail & Customer Experience
Experience in specialty retail, garden centers, home and outdoor retail, fashion, hospitality, attractions, lifestyle brands, or other destination-focused businesses.
Understanding of what drives customer traffic and creates memorable shopping experiences.
Experience supporting seasonal, event-driven, or promotional retail environments.
Marketing & Campaign Execution
Experience planning and executing promotions, seasonal campaigns, events, or marketing calendars.
Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail.
Strong writing, communication, and storytelling skills.
Creative & Brand Management
Strong eye for design, photography, visual presentation, and customer-facing marketing.
Experience working with signage, displays, visual merchandising, creative assets, or branded marketing materials.
Familiarity with Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, creative vendors, or similar tools.
