About the Role We have a permanent, full-time opportunity available to join our regional Te Manawa Taki team as Regional Clinical Director Public Health Medicine. The primary purpose of the role is to provide Public Heath Medicine leadership and advice, with responsibility for supporting the delivery of safe and effective Regional public health services.
You will work in clinical partnership with the Regional Director, as part of the Regional Leadership Group and the Clinical and Professional Leadership Team, to support public health strategic thinking, planning and priorities for service delivery across Te Manawa Taki region.
You will lead, develop and maintain the medical workforce in the regional public health service, ensuring appropriate practice standards and professional conduct, workforce development and future workforce needs are supported, and support the response to nationally or regionally significant public health events and emergencies.
You willlead professional frameworks, providing organisation - wide assurance, leadership, and clinical governance for the clinical teams within the Regional service.
About the Team/Service/ Location The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention.
About you You are an experienced senior leader with proven experience of leading change, building capability, innovation and lifting performance of a team/unit.
You have inclusive leadership and management skills and are able to maximise the quality and contributions of individuals and teams to drive outcomes and deliver programmes of work in a complex environment.
You are open to the views of others, and model agility to try new approaches, learn quickly and adapt - which creates a culture where individuals bring their ideas and issues for constructive debate to find improved ways forward.
Skills and Experience A medical degree with at least five years' experience working in public healthVocationally registered in Public Health Medicine with the Medical Council of New ZealandProven experience in Public Health Medicine clinical leadership and people leadership (minimum 3 years in previous leadership roles)Proven experience in leading change and service and quality improvement initiativesExperience in applying critical thinking, using sound judgment to develop options and knowledge of the machinery of government and policy developmentExperience in developing professional frameworks and governance systemsProven supervision, mentoring, coaching, and teaching skillsExperience leading leaders and other senior staff, including building capability, innovation and lifting performance of a team/unitCompetency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growthExperience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approachesDemonstrable understanding experience working in partnership with Pacific communitiesDemonstrated mature communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to write and present in a clear, persuasive, and impactful way, to influence others to embrace change, and to develop, unify and maintain strong internal and external relationships essential for achieving sustainable outcomesWorking for Health New Zealand Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora is 'the weaving of wellness'.
