Summary:
Recreation Facilities provide all citizens the opportunity to participate in recreation activities in a welcoming, clean, safe, and inclusive space.

Role:
Reporting to the Supervisor, Recreation Services, the Arena Attendant position is responsible for ensuring a safe and clean, and functional operation inside and outside the arena or skating area. This casual position works as part of a team in a public facing, fast-paced environment assisting with operations including moving equipment, cleaning, and maintaining the facility, supervising on ice during public skates, and providing excellent customer service to City of London patrons.

Job Responsibilities
Assist with the set-up and take down of programs, special events and rentals including moving equipment.
Responsible for dressing room locks and keys.
Carry out and document the cleaning of the facility, change rooms, washrooms and storage areas including duties such as sweeping and mopping per City of London Cleaning Protocols.
Monitor the ice surface during public skating on the ice. Enforce City of London public skating rules as required.
Follow maintenance checklist and keep accurate records of work completed.
Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and a positive and professional attitude when communicating with the public and co-workers in person or over the phone.
Change and empty garbage and recycling receptacles as required.
Ensure washrooms are stocked with necessary supplies.
Notify supervisory staff when building supplies need to be replenished.
Shovel snow and apply ice melt on sidewalks and around entry and exit points to maintain clearance as required to ensure public safety.
Complete all required paperwork and reports as outlined by Supervisor including, vandalism reports, customer injury reports etc.
Demonstrate commitment to anti-racism, anti-oppression, and human rights through practices and interactions with community partners, employees and individuals and support programs and initiatives that reflect this commitment.
Demonstrate commitment and adherence to Health and Safety legislation and programs; actively promote a culture of safety.
Perform other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
Standard First Aid Certificate (prior to the start of employment)
Vulnerable Sector Police Check (VSPC) (prior to the start of employment)
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to demonstrate interpersonal and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
High level of comfort in fast paced public facing environments.
Knowledge of janitorial functions
Ability to move heavy items including hockey nets.
Ability to skate preferred.
Availability for afternoons and weekends.
Other Information:
CSA approved green patch footwear is required.
CSA approved helmet is required.
Starting Wage - $17.20 per hour
