About the role
We’re looking for a Rates Officer to join our Finance team on a fixed-term basis until approximately the end of June 2028, supporting the delivery of accurate and timely rates administration services.
In this role, you’ll help ensure our rates processes run smoothly - from maintaining accurate account information to supporting customers with their enquiries. You’ll play an important part in delivering fair, consistent, and high-quality service to our community.
This is a great opportunity to build or deepen your experience in a role that combines customer service, financial administration, and legislation.
What you’ll be doing
Supporting the administration and maintenance of rates accounts, ensuring information is accurate and up to date
Processing transactions such as payments, direct debits, rebates, and adjustments
Responding to customer enquiries and explaining rates information clearly and confidently
Assisting with applications such as rates rebates and remissions
Applying Council policies and relevant legislation in your day-to-day work
Working closely with your team to maintain service continuity and meet deadlines
About you
You’ll bring a strong customer focus and a genuine desire to support your community. You enjoy helping people, can communicate clearly, and take pride in getting the details right.
You’re someone who is reliable, organised, and comfortable working with processes and systems and you’re keen to learn and grow
We’re looking for someone who:
Has experience in customer service, administration, or a similar role (or is keen to build experience in this area)
Communicates clearly and confidently across phone, email, and face-to-face interactions
Has strong attention to detail and enjoys working with data and systems
Is well organised and able to manage their time in a busy environment
Is comfortable using Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and learning new systems
Uses initiative and sound judgement, and handles sensitive information appropriately
Experience in finance, billing, or working in a regulated environment (such as local government or utilities) would be an advantage.
