Seeking adventurous OO4 Rangers to join our dynamic team! Engage in diverse field tasks including natural resource management, facility maintenance, and special projects in Queensland's stunning national parks.

Aspire to protect our natural heritage while honing your skills in construction, machinery, and pest control. If you're passionate about conservation and possess a medium rigid driver's licence, your expertise can thrive here. Dive into this rewarding career nurturing the heart of Queensland’s wild beauty. Apply now!

The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service is calling for dedicated individuals to embrace the role of OO4 Ranger, a challenging and impactful position centred on the preservation and management of our natural sanctuaries. Positioned within the captivating landscapes of Wooroonooran, Eubenangee Swamp, Russell River, and Ella Bay National Parks, your role involves critical tasks that bolster the health and accessibility of these protected areas.

As an OO4 Ranger, you will partake in a comprehensive work program encompassing various operational and special projects under the guidance of the Ranger in Charge. Your responsibilities will stretch across supervising teams in natural resource management, ensuring facilities are well-maintained, enhancing visitor infrastructure, and overseeing strategic pest management initiatives. Engaging with the public, managing infrastructure, and contributing to fire management efforts are also key aspects, all while supporting conservation.

Applicants who exhibit proficiency in basic construction, use of hand tools, chainsaws, and operational machinery will find themselves well-suited to this role. A medium rigid driver licence is desirable, and comfort with agricultural chemicals is paramount as you tackle invasive species. Professionalism and interpersonal skills are necessary, given frequent interactions with the public at the popular Josephine Falls and Graham range.

This role is not only a chance to contribute to vital environmental outcomes but also offers personal growth and skill development. As you assist in project allocation and compliance enforcement, your administrative acumen and computer literacy will strengthen. Your actions will align with the goals of the Queensland Government under various regulations, ensuring our natural areas continue to flourish.

We seek a candidate who embodies commitment and foresight, promptly identifying potential challenges and delivering solutions. Your team-oriented mindset should be coupled with a deep understanding of conservation, resource management, and a range of general construction capabilities.

Equity, diversity, and inclusion are the cornerstones of our work culture, therefore, a dedication to these principles and a drive to deliver better outcomes for First Nations people are inherent to the role. Notably, travel is part of the job, with based operations in Innisfail and occasional needs for travel to other locations.

Join us in a career that interweaves action, conservation, and community engagement. If you believe in sustaining the environment for future generations and are moved by the majesty of Queensland's national parks, your journey as an OO4 Ranger awaits. Explore the provided guidelines for further insights and prepare to embark on a path of meaningful contribution to the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service.
