Job Description
Role Description This is a full-time, on-site QuickBooks Accountant role based in New City, NY. The QuickBooks Accountant will manage day-to-day bookkeeping for multiple clients, including recording transactions, reconciling bank and credit card accounts, and maintaining accurate general ledgers in QuickBooks. Responsibilities include processing accounts payable and receivable, preparing client invoices, and monitoring cash flow and aging reports. The role will support month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and preparation of financial statements and reports for review by senior staff or CPAs. The accountant will assist with payroll entries, sales tax filings, and supporting documents for tax preparation, while communicating with clients to resolve questions, gather information, and provide timely updates. The position also involves maintaining organized electronic records, following firm procedures, and contributing to process improvements and best practices within the accounting team.
Qualifications
Strong proficiency in QuickBooks (Online and/or Desktop), including setting up charts of accounts, posting entries, and generating reports.
Solid bookkeeping skills: general ledger maintenance, bank and credit card reconciliations, accounts payable and accounts receivable, and journal entries.
Experience preparing basic financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow) and supporting schedules for review.
Working knowledge of payroll entries, sales tax, and support for business and individual tax preparation is preferred.
Ability to analyze account activity, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues with minimal supervision.
High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills when managing multiple client files.
Effective written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with clients and internal team members in a professional manner.
Proficiency with Excel and other common office software; experience with additional accounting or tax software is a plus.
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Prior experience in a CPA firm or multi-client environment is a plus, as is familiarity with small business accounting.
