Full job description
The role is responsible for end-to-end quality management in an automotive bearing/precision machining manufacturing environment, ensuring product quality from incoming materials to final dispatch.
Key Responsibilities
Manage Incoming Quality Control (IQC) and supplier quality issues, including rejection handling and supplier performance monitoring.
Oversee In-Process Quality Assurance, including Auto Gauging, Laser Inspection, ECT, MPI, manual inspections, calibration, and audits.
Conduct Final Inspection (Dock Audit) and ensure compliance with customer drawings, packaging standards, and dimensional requirements.
Handle customer complaints, lead 8D investigations, root cause analysis (5 Why, Fishbone), and corrective actions.
Maintain compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, customer requirements, and support internal/external audits.
Monitor SPC, process capability, calibration systems, quality documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives (Kaizen, FPY improvement, rejection reduction).
Train inspectors/operators and support team development.
Technical Requirements
Knowledge of CNC Turning, Washing, Preservation, and Packing processes.
Hands-on experience with measuring and inspection equipment such as Vernier, Micrometer, Bore Gauge, Air Gauge, CMM, Contour Measuring Machine, Roundness Tester, ECT & MPI Machines.
Proficiency in quality tools such as Control Plan, 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone Diagram, Pareto Analysis, PDCA, Kaizen, and Poka-Yoke.
Qualification & Experience
B.E./B.Tech/Diploma in Mechanical, Production, or related Engineering discipline.
5–6 years of experience as a Quality Engineer in automotive bearings, precision machining, or automotive component manufacturing. Experience with Tier-1/OEM customers preferred.
Desired Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawings.
Good communication, teamwork, and Excel/data analysis skills.
Ability to lead quality improvement projects and cross-functional teams.
Key KPIs
Scrap %, Rework %, Customer Complaints, 8D Closure Time, Audit Score, Calibration Compliance, and Supplier Issue Resolution.
