The Project Manager will play a fundamental role in facilitating the effective transition and integration process of establishing the Commission for Children and Young People, as well as ensuring capacity and capability for the implementation of new statutory functions, recommended by the Commission of Inquiry into the Tasmanian Government’s Responses to Child Sexual Abuse in Institutional Settings. The Commission is a new, strengthened regulator and advocate for children and young people’s rights and safety. Acting with a high degree of autonomy, the Project Manager will be responsible for the provision of high level, authoritative advice and support to the Deputy Secretary, Policy and Delivery. The Project Manager will engage and work collaboratively with key stakeholders to develop and implement change management strategies that ensure the successful establishment of the new Commission in a child-centred manner. The incumbent will require high order strategic thinking skills, strong leadership and effective communication skills to manage the complexities and challenges associated with organisational change.
Having a diverse workforce that represents the wider Tasmanian community is very important to us and we actively encourage applications from people with disabilities, from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, people who may identify as LGBTQI+, and all genders. We recognise the value, unique skills and knowledge that Aboriginal employees bring to the workplace and welcome and encourage applications from Aboriginal people.

We are committed to putting the rights and wellbeing of children and young people at the centre of what we do. We will employ the right people. We will embed a culture of self-reflection and continuous improvement. We will have the courage to change what needs to be changed. We will regularly review our policies and structures through a child and youth safety lens. Our people will be equipped with the skills to recognise and respond to signs of harm. We are growing a culture where everyone takes responsibility, shares information, and speaks up if something doesn’t seem right. Together, we’re creating a place where all children and young people are safe from harm.
