Production Manager
Job Description
Metro Performance Glass has been shaping the future of glass in New Zealand for nearly 40 years. We’re proud of our reputation for innovation, quality, but what really sets us apart is our people and our dedication to delivering excellent service to our customers.
Are you a hands-on manufacturing leader who knows how to build strong teams, improve performance, and create structure in a fast-paced production environment?
We are looking for an experienced Production Manager to lead our PM shift and drive safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing performance.
This role is about more than managing a shift. You will take ownership of performance, understand the root causes behind issues, and turn that insight into practical plans that improve flow, lift capability, and strengthen standards.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Lead the safe, efficient, and reliable delivery of the PM shift production plan
Build a strong shift rhythm with clear expectations, standards, and accountability
Coach and develop supervisors, team leaders, and production teams to lift capability and ownership
Understand the root causes behind performance issues and turn them into practical action plans
Improve production flow, remove bottlenecks, and strengthen productivity, quality, and operational discipline
Work closely with planning, maintenance, quality, dispatch, and other teams to remove barriers and meet customer requirements
Use data, problem solving, and visible leadership to drive better decisions and stronger shift performance
What You’ll Bring
Proven experience leading production teams in manufacturing, ideally in high-volume, FMCG, or fast-paced operations
Strong people leadership skills, with the ability to coach, develop, and hold teams accountable
Practical experience using Lean Manufacturing, Theory of Constraints, or continuous improvement tools to lift performance
A track record of improving safety, quality, productivity, throughput, and operational discipline
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to understand root causes and turn insights into action
A hands-on leadership style that stays connected to the floor while setting clear standards and expectations
Confidence working across departments to remove barriers, improve flow, and deliver better outcomes
Why Join Us?
Step into a key manufacturing leadership role where your impact will be visible. You will influence operational performance, develop future leaders, and help shape a stronger culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
This is a role for someone who does more than manage a shift. You will lead from the front, create clarity, build accountability, remove barriers, and turn operational challenges into practical improvements that lift team and business performance.
If you are ready to lead with purpose, improve how teams work, and help build a stronger manufacturing operation, this is your opportunity to make a real difference.
