Job Description: Category Manager (Mobile Screen Protection)
Role Overview
We are seeking a Product Category Manager with deep domain expertise in mobile tempered glass and screen protection. You will be responsible for the end-to-end management of the tempered glass category, ensuring our product assortment is technologically superior, high-quality, and aligned with market trends. This is a strategic role requiring a mix of material science knowledge, vendor management, and portfolio strategy.
Key Responsibilities
• Portfolio Strategy: Curate and manage a diverse range of screen protectors, including 2.5D, 3D, and 6D curved glass, Matte/Anti-glare, and Privacy variants.
• Technical Benchmarking: Evaluate product specifications such as 9H hardness ratings, ion-exchange strengthening levels, and oleophobic coating durability against competitors like Spigen or Gripp.
• Quality Assurance & Testing: Establish strict QC parameters for incoming batches, focusing on touch sensitivity, HD clarity, and adhesive quality to ensure a bubble-free user experience.
• New Product Development (NPD): Lead the launch of protection solutions for new flagship devices, ensuring perfect alignment with the latest phone dimensions and under-display sensors.
• Vendor & Sourcing Management: Collaborate with manufacturers to source premium raw materials, such as Japanese Asahi Glass or Corning Gorilla Glass, and negotiate technical specifications rather than just price.
• Market Intelligence: Monitor global trends in mobile displays (e.g., foldable screens, ceramic shields) to anticipate future protection needs.
Required Product Expertise:
• Material Science: Clear understanding of different glass tiers (Soda-Lime vs. High Alumina) and their impact on shatter resistance.
• Manufacturing Processes: Knowledge of CNC precision cutting, chemical tempering cycles, and silk-screening techniques.
• Application Technology: Expertise in different installation methods, from traditional wet-apply to modern Auto-Alignment/EZ Fit trays.
Qualifications:
• 3–5 years of experience in Product Management, Category Management, or Technical Sourcing within the mobile accessories industry.
• Deep analytical skills to interpret sales data and market gaps.
• Excellent communication skills to translate technical glass specifications into marketing-friendly benefits.
