Reporting To: General Manager / Plant Head
Experience Required: 10+ years in PPC, preferably in glass processing or manufacturing
Role Overview:
We are looking for an experienced and strategic Head of Department - PPC to lead our Production Planning & Control team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for optimizing production schedules, managing order flows, and minimizing wastage. With a cutting-edge software already in place for glass cutting optimization, the role demands a smart and analytical leader who can further reduce wastage (currently at 10%) and enhance energy efficiency, especially in the tempering process. The HOD-PPC will oversee reporting, process planning, and ensure timely order delivery while focusing on maximizing profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Production Planning & Order Management:
Develop and manage detailed production schedules, aligning with sales orders and delivery timelines.
Utilize the existing glass cutting optimization software to reduce wastage and streamline order flow.
Analyze and adjust plans to accommodate changes in demand, machine availability, and order priorities.
2. Wastage Reduction and Efficiency Improvement:
Implement strategies to reduce glass wastage from 10% to a lower percentage through better planning and process optimization.
Continuously monitor cutting patterns and material usage to minimize scrap and off-cuts. Collaborate with the Maintenance team to ensure efficient machine performance and reduce downtime.
3. Energy Optimization in Tempering Process:
Optimize the tempering process schedule to reduce electricity consumption and maximize yields.
Monitor energy usage closely and implement best practices for efficient plant operations. Work with the Production and Maintenance teams to identify and address any inefficiencies in the tempering process.
4. Reporting and Performance Monitoring:
Prepare detailed daily, weekly, and monthly reports on production performance, wastage rates, and energy consumption.
Analyze performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement, presenting actionable insights to senior management.
Set and track KPIs for the PPC team, focusing on efficiency, waste reduction, and timely order fulfillment.
5. Team Leadership and Coordination:
Lead, mentor, and develop the PPC team, ensuring high performance and effective planning. Coordinate closely with Sales, Production, and Quality Control teams to ensure seamless order processing and delivery.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging innovative ideas for process enhancements.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
Experience: 10+ years in PPC or production management, with a focus on optimization and process improvement.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in PPC software and data analysis tools; strong understanding of glass cutting and tempering processes.
Analytical Ability: Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions to enhance efficiency and reduce wastage.
Leadership: Proven experience in leading a team, driving performance, and implementing process improvements.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, Production Management, or related field; certifications in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma are a plus.
