Point of Care Team Lead - Offsite Locations
Job Description
Coordinates the technical activities of point of care areas at offsite locations. Development and review of policies, and ensures end-users of point of care devises maintain current competency for laboratory techniques, procedures, and equipment operation. Oversee quality control program to ensure high quality diagnostic testing and all point of care activities comply with organization and regulatory agency standards.
Job Responsibilities
Communicate with all customers in a positive, professional, and courteous manner. Cooperates with Lab Assistants, Nursing, Physician Office Staff and Supervisory Staff to facilitate accurate test ordering, specimen integrity, and timely results reporting.
Adhere to the laboratory quality control policies and procedures, perform appropriate daily quality control, troubleshoot, and initiate resolution to quality control problems, and document all quality control activities
Perform instrument maintenance according to established schedule and document maintenance activities
Correlate data and monitor test performance and results for reasonableness. Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications, including clinician notification and instrument troubleshooting
Coordinate proficiency testing events according to standard operating procedures as applicable
Assists in maintaining adequate supply inventory and follows laboratory policies and procedures on optimal supply use and storage requirements
Use personal protective equipment in accordance with hospital and laboratory policies

Point of Care Duties
Maintain Procedure Review and Revisions in Policy Tech
College of American Pathologist inspection checklist review
Plan and implement POC testing Quality Schedule
Maintain adequate Reagent Inventory for POC testing
Collect Quality Assurance data for POC testing
Result Review of patient results on routine basis
Monthly or as needed review of Quality data
Competency Management for POCT end-users for all current instrumentation and kits as required
Devise maintenance and repair; Assist end users with instrument or kit troubleshooting; work with Technical Support to request repairs and assist with device/hardware updates as needed
Data Manager monitoring and updates; report issues with data manager; assist during downtimes and recovery; assist with updates as needed
Performs validation and verification studies for implementation of new methods and equipment
Works with vendors on new test creation and interface changes for new tests and updates/system upgrades
Education Requirements
Minimum: Bachelors degree in medical technology, or chemical, plysical or biological science from an accredited institution and have at least four years of laboratory training or experience, or both, in high complexity testing within the specialty with a minimum of six months experience in high complexity testing within the subspecialty. Must be ASCP registered or equivalent. Must meet requirements for Technical Consultant under CLIA 1988.
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory science, medical technology or chemical, physical or biological science and ten years of laboratory training or experience, or both, in high complexity testing within the specialty with a minimum of six months experience in high complexity testing within the subspecialty. Must be MT (ASCP) registered.
Experience Requirements
Minimum: 2 years testing experience in hospital laboratory setting. Laboratory testing. General or specific experience in Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank, Coagulation, Microbiology, Serology and/or Urinalysis.
Preferred: 5 years' experience in implementation of analyzers, quality control program development and management, statistical analysis of data, RALS data management system or similar, and point of care testing.
License/Certification Requirements
