Plumbing Design Engineer

1. POSITION OVERVIEW
We are looking for a technically competent Plumbing Design Engineer (PHE) with 3-8 years of
MEP consultancy experience. The candidate will be responsible for complete design of water
supply, drainage, firefighting, and water treatment systems for building projects.
This is a pure design and coordination role in a structured consultancy environment.

2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

A. Water Supply System Design

Design cold water supply systems (internal & external)
Design hot water supply systems (centralized & decentralized)
Water demand calculations based on fixture units
Pipe sizing using velocity and pressure criteria
Design overhead tanks and underground sumps
Pump head calculations and pump selection

B. Drainage & Sewerage System Design

Design sanitary drainage systems
Design storm water drainage systems
Vent system planning
Drainage load calculations
Pipe slope determination and invert level planning
Manhole and inspection chamber layout planning

C. Fire Fighting System Design

Design hydrant systems
Sprinkler system planning (basic to intermediate)
Fire water demand calculation
Pump selection (main pump, jockey pump, standby pump)
Fire tank sizing
Coordination with Fire Authority requirements

D. Water Treatment & Sustainable Systems

STP planning and capacity estimation
WTP/RO system planning
Rainwater harvesting system design
Grey water reuse system understanding
Basic ETP knowledge (preferred)

E. Drafting & Documentation

Water supply layouts (internal & external)
Drainage layouts and riser diagrams
Pump room and tank room layouts
Isometric drawings for complex piping
Fixture schedules, valve schedules, pipe schedules
BOQ preparation with detailed quantities
Technical specifications documentation

F. Coordination & Compliance

Coordinate with Electrical, HVAC, and Structural disciplines
Participate in BIM coordination
Ensure compliance with NBC Part 9
Knowledge of IS 2065, IS 13498
Familiarity with CPHEEO Manual guidelines

Support in authority approval documentation where required

3. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

B.E / B.Tech in Mechanical or Civil Engineering (Mandatory)

Experience
3-8 years in Plumbing / PHE MEP Design Consultancy
Experience in residential, commercial, hospitality projects
Consultancy experience preferred

4. TECHNICAL SKILLS (MANDATORY)

AutoCAD Proficient (Plumbing layouts, risers, detailing)
Revit MEP Working to Advanced (3D pipe routing, schedules)
MS Excel Hydraulic calculations and BOQ preparation

5. TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

Water supply engineering principles
Hydraulic calculation fundamentals
Drainage design principles
Fire fighting basics (NFPA knowledge preferred)
Pump selection fundamentals

Tank sizing and layout planning
Sustainable water management systems
