Obtain the pharmaceutical, prepares package labels, visually inspects the medication in the bottle to be dispensed, and verifies appropriate medication, checks the printed label affixed to the container against the original prescription for correctness
Provide instruction to patients on proper use of medications
Mentors technicians and other pharmacy staff working in/with area of responsibility in order to maintain the accuracy and quality of pharmaceutical services
Provide accurate drug information to health professionals and patients, to ensure safe and appropriate use of medications
Provide medication reconciliation for the patient
Pharmacist may be identified per shift as a Code Responder and will respond to Code Blues during a particular shift
