Performance Testers examine and report on the responsiveness and stability of systems and their components under workloads.
Key duties and responsibilities
The Specified Personnel will be responsible for providing the following deliverables including but not limited to:
Working in fast-paced teams to deliver testing activities;
Coaching and developing team capability through on‑the‑job support;
Planning and managing the performance testing lifecycle within program and project constraints;
Coordinating performance test resource, estimates, schedules, and delivery activities;
Building and maintaining effective relationships with project managers, test managers, ICT teams, and business stakeholders;
Providing technical guidance on performance testing tools, environments, data, and systems;
Identifying, managing and escalating test risks, issues, and dependencies;
Ensuring clear, targeted, and appropriate communication with various stakeholders;
Preparing, developing and executing test cases using the framework;
Specified Personnel will be expected to transfer skills and knowledge to departmental staff and ensure appropriate documentation is stored in accordance with the Department’s recordkeeping policy and practices.
The Specified Personnel will be responsible for producing the following deliverables, including but not limited to:
Performance test plans, schedules, estimates, and progress reports.
Clear and up‑to‑date performance testing documentation and quality standards.
Stakeholder confidence in performance testing outcomes and recommendations.
Technical Documentation.
All deliverables performed by the specified personnel must:
be performed or delivered promptly and without delay in accordance with the timeframes notified by the buyer from time to time; and
meet the assessment and performance criteria set out in any monitoring and performance assessment processes notified to the seller from time to time.
Essential criteria
1.Methods and tools: Level 4 (SFIA)Provides advice and guidance to support the adoption of methods and tools and adherence to policies and standards. Tailors processes in line with agreed standards and evaluation of methods and tools. Reviews and improves usage and application of methods and tools.
2.Programming/software development: Level 4 (SFIA)Designs, codes, verifies, tests, documents, amends and refactors complex programs/scripts and integration software services. Contributes to the selection of the software development methods, tools and techniques. Applies agreed standards and tools to achieve well-engineered outcomes. Participates in reviews of own work and leads reviews of colleagues' work.
3.Specialist advice: Level 5 (SFIA)Provides definitive and expert advice in their specialist area. Actively maintains recognised expert level knowledge in one or more identifiable specialisms. Oversees the provision of specialist advice by others. Consolidates expertise from multiple sources, including third-party experts, to provide coherent advice to further organisational objectives. Supports and promotes the development and sharing of specialist knowledge within the organisation.
4.Testing: Level 5 (SFIA)Plans and drives testing activities across all stages and iterations of product, systems and service development. Provides authoritative advice and guidance on any aspect of test planning and execution. Adopts and adapts appropriate testing methods, automated tools and techniques to solve problems in tools and testing approaches. Measures and monitors applications of standards for testing. Assesses risks and takes preventative action. Identifies improvements and contributes to the development of organisational policies, standards, and guidelines for testing.
Desirable criteria
1.Acceptance testing: Level 4 (SFIA)Develops acceptance criteria related to functional and non-functional requirements, business processes, features, user stories and business rules. Designs, specifies and executes test cases and scenarios to test that systems, products and services fulfil the acceptance criteria and deliver the predicted business benefits. Collaborates with project colleagues and stakeholders involved in the analysis, development and operation of products, systems or services to ensure accuracy and comprehensive test coverage. Analyses and reports on test activities, results, issues and risks including the work of others.
2.Systems integration and build: Level 2 (SFIA)Produces software builds from software source code. Conducts tests as defined in an integration test specification and records the details of any failures. Analyses and reports on integration test activities and results. Identifies and reports issues and risks.
Pay: $120.00 – $140.00 per hour
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Canberra ACT
