The Role
We’re looking for a Packaging Development & Innovation Specialist to lead packaging development from concept through launch across LYBL’s growing portfolio of health and wellness products.
This person will own the packaging process end to end, working across our science, brand, creative, operations, sourcing, and manufacturing partners to turn product concepts into thoughtful, functional, and beautifully executed packaging.
You won’t be the designer, but you should have a strong eye for design and consumer experience and know how to work with designers and agencies to bring the brand vision to life.
You should also bring a strong understanding of packaging formats, materials, sustainability, manufacturing, and emerging packaging innovation and be constantly looking for better ways to package and deliver our products.
What You’ll Do
• Lead packaging development from initial concept through production and launch.
• Partner with our science and product teams to understand each formulation, product format, usage, and packaging requirements.
• Explore and recommend innovative packaging formats, materials, components, and sustainable solutions.
• Translate product and brand strategy into clear packaging briefs for designers, agencies, suppliers, and manufacturing partners.
• Partner closely with creative teams on structure, form, color, materials, typography, hierarchy, and overall packaging experience.
• Manage packaging agencies, vendors, suppliers, manufacturers, and other external partners.
• Own packaging timelines, samples, prototypes, reviews, approvals, specifications, and production handoffs.
• Coordinate with regulatory and internal stakeholders to ensure packaging information, claims, instructions, and required documentation are accurate.
• Evaluate packaging for functionality, durability, sustainability, cost, scalability, and consumer experience.
• Maintain strong organization across multiple SKUs, formats, vendors, timelines, and launches.
• Stay ahead of new packaging technologies, materials, formats, and sustainability innovations relevant to health and wellness.
What We’re Looking For
• 5+ years of experience in packaging development, packaging innovation, product development, or a related role.
• Strong experience within a consumer brand, creative/packaging agency, or CPG environment.
• Experience in D2C health and wellness, supplements, beauty, skincare, personal care, food, or another consumer product category is a strong plus.
• Experience taking packaging from concept through commercialization and production.
• Strong knowledge of packaging materials, formats, manufacturing processes, vendors, and sustainability considerations.
• A strong visual eye and understanding of premium consumer packaging and brand design.
• Experience partnering with designers or creative agencies and providing clear, thoughtful creative feedback.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple products, vendors, timelines, and stakeholders simultaneously.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable owning projects independently.
• Strong cross-functional communication and the ability to work fluidly across science, creative, operations, and external partners.
