Job Description:
L2 Deliverables
Maintenance
• Review fragmentation by investigating row chaining and show config and other tools to ascertain areas of fragmentation
• Reorganization of DB to remove fragmentation
• Rebuild of indexes
• Analyse of objects and generating statistics for schemes
• Capture Percentage of never analysed tables and indexes
Backup & Recovery
• Verify that database / archive / transaction log backup to disk as well as to tape was successful
• Taking Backup of Database
• Conduct Backup, restoration drills for backup verification
• Manage the backup strategy of the databases & assisting for proper restoration and recovery
• Plan Type and Frequency of Backups as per criticality database related incidents & problems
• Restoration of database, archive log on demand.
• Database recovery with minimal downtime by using the right backups available,
Security
• User Management (unlock, profiles change, allocate disk quota)
• Grant Privileges & control Access on Database
• Roles and Privileges Management
• Look for security policy violations and unsuccessful login attempts
• User / Schema Creation and Review the Change
• Restore / Recreated Standby / DR due to high Lag or network disconnects
• Adding space and objects to the database and review change impact
• Verifying Database integrity and identify corruption using RMAN / dbverifty / checkdb / check catalog etc
• Monitor system performance & recommend actions for improving the system
• Verify that all indexes user an index table space for better IO distribution
Performance Management
• Resolving Database Connectivity issues
• Troubleshooting Slow response incidents / issues
• Examine tuning opportunities and recommend performance enhancements.
• Analyze the results of daily monitoring procedures & suggest changes, if any, to improve the performance of DB
Operations
• Generating and sending Periodic Daily / Weekly Report on Database Health / Performance
• Vendor Management and availing principle / OEM support from Microsoft, Oracle, IBM etc
• Maintaining DB Environment details
• DB Trend Analysis & Capacity Planning
• Execute Scripts to add / modify application objects as per change request
• Adherence to Change Management Process and participating in Change Management Meetings
• Pulling Data from different database based on request based on the inputs defined by the Application teams.
• Support for DB related information for Customers audit cycle and DB related implementation of pre-audits to ensure readiness for the audits
• Coordinate with the vendor / principal, for patch codes, bug fixes on need basis and also for any technical escalation
• Root Cause Analysis for DB problems / Recurring problems and initiate Request for Change Initiate Periodic Performance Review and recommended actionable to Application team Tuning Database Parameters for Optimization and better performance
