Job Description

Full job description
The Opportunity

The Operations Coordinator provides comprehensive operational executive support for the Australian Centre for Jewish Civilisation (ACJC), ensuring the effective delivery of its research, teaching, and community engagement activities. Working closely with the Centre Director and team, you will coordinate digital systems, financial administration, communications, facilities management, and general operational processes to support the smooth and efficient functioning of the Centre.

You will manage public inquiries, meeting coordination, and Advisory Council support, while maintaining high-quality communications across digital platforms including the website, newsletters, and social media. The role also contributes to financial processes, compliance requirements, and governance activities, ensuring all operations are aligned with university policies and professional standards.

In addition, you will play a key role in supporting events, public programs, donor engagement, community outreach, and major research and academic initiatives. This is a varied and hands-on role that requires strong organisational capability, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities while contributing to the Centre’s mission of fostering scholarship, public engagement, and intercultural understanding.

As the successful candidate, you will bring strong administrative coordination experience with demonstrated ability to manage complex operations, multiple priorities, and diverse stakeholder relationships across academic, community, and government contexts. You will be highly organised, proactive, and confident in delivering high-quality outcomes, with strong experience in event coordination, community engagement, and supporting programs involving a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to draft professional correspondence, manage sensitive stakeholder communications, and engage effectively with senior leaders, community representatives, and academic colleagues. You will demonstrate sound judgement, discretion, and a strong commitment to customer service, alongside advanced computer literacy and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

Experience in community engagement or cultural sector organisations, particularly within Jewish community contexts, will be highly regarded. Familiarity with university administration, academic governance, and research environments, as well as experience delivering complex events and coordinating cross-sector partnerships, will also be an advantage. Language skills in Hebrew, Yiddish, or other relevant languages will be considered a valuable asset.
