Job Description
Key Responsibilities
• Network Monitoring and Analysis:
• Monitor network infrastructure using specialized tools and software to detect and analyze network traffic, performance metrics, and system alerts.
• Identify and investigate network anomalies, security breaches, or performance degradation.
• Conduct root cause analysis of network incidents and implement solutions to prevent recurrence.
• Performance Optimization:
• Evaluate network performance metrics, including bandwidth utilization, latency, and packet loss.
• Implement optimization strategies to improve network efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
• Recommend hardware or software upgrades and configuration changes to enhance network performance.
• Incident Response and Troubleshooting:
• Respond to network incidents, alarms, or outages in a timely manner to minimize downtime and service disruptions.
• Troubleshoot network issues using diagnostic tools and methodologies, such as packet capture and analysis.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex network problems and escalate issues as necessary.
• Security Monitoring and Compliance:
• Monitor network security events and alerts to identify potential security threats or vulnerabilities.
• Implement security controls and measures to protect against unauthorized access, malware, and cyberattacks.
• Ensure compliance with security policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., PCI DSS, GDPR).
• Documentation and Reporting:
• Maintain accurate records of network configurations, incidents, and changes.
• Generate regular reports on network performance, availability, and security posture.
• Provide recommendations for improving network monitoring processes and procedures.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Proven experience as a network engineer, network administrator, or similar role, with a focus on network monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLAN).
• Experience with network monitoring tools and systems (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, PRTG, Wireshark).
• Knowledge of security principles and best practices related to network infrastructure and data protection.
• Familiarity with firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and security information and event management (SIEM) tools.
• Certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), CompTIA Network+, or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) are a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
