MongoDB Database Administration Role
Job Description
This is a critical position that requires a skilled MongoDB Database Administrator (DBA) to oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of our database environments. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with MongoDB, Kafka, and Ansible, and be well-versed in data governance practices, including archiving and data masking.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in database administration, with a focus on high availability, automation, real-time data synchronization, and data lifecycle management. Experience with containerized environments, Infrastructure as Code, and other database technologies such as PostgreSQL, Redis, or Cassandra is a plus.
• Deploy, configure, and maintain MongoDB databases across development, staging, and production.
• Design and manage distributed data synchronization using MongoDB replication/sharding and Kafka-based real-time pipelines.
• Build and maintain automated deployment and configuration scripts using Ansible.
• Develop and implement database archiving strategies to manage storage efficiently while retaining data integrity and compliance.
• Apply data masking techniques for sensitive datasets to support secure testing, development, and analytics.
• Monitor system health and performance, implement optimizations, and proactively address issues.
• Enforce database security, including access controls, encryption, and role-based permissions.
• Create, document, and maintain database procedures, standards, and operational runbooks.
• Participate in on-call rotations and support incident resolution as needed.
Requirements:
• 10+ years of experience as a MongoDB DBA in production environments.
• Deep expertise in MongoDB architecture, replication, sharding, backup, and recovery.
• Strong hands-on experience with Kafka for event-driven data architecture.
• Proven experience with Ansible for automation of database tasks and infrastructure provisioning.
• Knowledge and implementation experience of database archiving and data masking.
• Proficient with shell scripting and Linux-based environments.
• Experience with MongoDB Atlas and hybrid cloud/on-premise environments.
• Familiar with monitoring/alerting tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or Ops Manager.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
