Job Description

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Border Patrol, Yuma Sector, Mission Readiness Operations. Additional selections may be made for other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above. ['This position works within a Sector Mission Readiness Operations, Workforce Management Division carrying out a variety of mission support, workforce management, administrative research, and program planning activities. This position starts at a salary of $50,460.00 (GS-07, Step 1) to $80,243.00 (GS-09, Step 10). GS Salary: Visit this link to view the locality pay tables by geographic area. The Mission Support Specialist (Workforce Management) serves as a liaison between Mission Readiness Operations and various support office to carry out projects and performing studies and projects to address technical issues or problems related to the workforce. Duties and responsibilities include: Confidentially assisting manager working on disciplinary and adverse actions, grievances, and changes to working conditions; acting as a liaison with Human Resources to implement resolutions to complex workforce issues; assisting in implementing policies related to workforce and position management. Maintaining various reports, updating information for the agencies manning documents; coordinating with supervisors and staff to ensure completion of actions and receipt of documents in a timely fashion; submit and monitor personnel actions. Serving as liaison with Labor-Employee Relations, Equal Opportunity Commission, Office of Workers Compensation and Office of Chief Counsel for cases that have workforce implications; preparing reports with data from internal data sources and agency automated systems for managerial informational needs. Performing general mission support related activities such as scheduling travel and training, organizing logistical elements, analyzing non-overtime budgets, managing procurement and acquisitions, and serving as a point of contact for headquarters and/or sector office staff.
