Job Highlights
This role is contingent upon award. We are searching for a dedicated Medical Practitioner to deliver comprehensive healthcare, focusing on diagnosing, treating, and preventing illness in compliance with healthcare regulations. You will be an essential collaboration partner with healthcare staff, emphasizing health and well-being within the facility.
• Deliver direct patient care to detainees of all ages at the assigned facility, and provide clinical oversight to medical staff.
• Act as the primary medical authority and coordinate healthcare delivery at the facility.
• Maintain a patient schedule, ensuring visits approximately every 30-45 minutes while documenting patient encounters.
• Conduct chart reviews, manage referrals, and engage in various patient care processes, adhering to policy guidelines.
• Supervise advanced practice providers, nursing staff, and medical assistants while ensuring appropriate collaborative practices and scope of work.
• Perform assessments for both acute and chronic conditions, ensuring necessary diagnostic and therapeutic services are applied.
• Review and approve outside referrals for specialty services as needed.
• Conduct daily patient rounds and consult with clinical colleagues regarding care protocols.
• Respond to medical emergencies, coordinating appropriate actions swiftly.
• Work collaboratively with senior leadership to report patient care and seek guidance when required.
• Participate in performance improvement activities and maintain organized record-keeping in accordance with program policies.
• Utilize electronic health records efficiently and complete required training and health screenings.
• Safeguard patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Engage in continuous learning and attend staff meetings, sharing knowledge of current clinical practices.
• Provide educational programs for clinic staff and assist in teaching professionals at various levels.
• Foster a diverse and culturally sensitive environment in all interactions.
• Effectively communicate in English and demonstrate technological proficiency for conducting duties.
• Adapt to shifting schedules and requirements as necessary.
• Complete compliance training as mandated, contributing to client-specific requirements for healthcare services.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
• Active, unrestricted Physician license from relevant state authority.
• Unrestricted DEA license for prescribing controlled medications.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• One year of experience in a general capacity demonstrating effective public engagement and compliance with regulations.
• Capability to function under mental stress and manage emergency situations.
Education:
• Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine from an accredited program.
• Completion of relevant medical specialty training and board eligibility or certification preferred.
