Job Description

Typical Duties or Accountabilities: Use of existing electronic medical record systems (MedAccess/SCM); scheduling appointments, medical tests, and clinic days; transcribing dictation, preparing and managing clinical and general correspondence; telephone and office reception; filing, billing, and processing mail; and performing other clerical duties as assigned.

Education: Completion of Grade 12 and a medical secretarial diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution. Current medical terminology and transcription training are required.

Experience: Two to five years of clinical secretarial experience is required. Experience in a fast-paced, complex setting is preferred.

Skills:

effective interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal;
demonstrate effective organization and time management skills;
proven ability to work on multiple projects with competing demands to meet deadlines;
ability to work both independently and as part of a team;
proficient with transcription and thorough knowledge and understanding of medical terminology;
working knowledge / experience with EMR platforms, eHR Viewer, Excel, Power Point, and other common office software is required.
