What we are looking for:
The successful candidate will work in the Histology Department with proven ability to work in all areas, including but not limited to: accessioning, embedding, microtomy, special stains, immunohistochemistry and frozen sections.
What you bring to Oak Valley Health:
Member of the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario
Minimum two years recent histology experience required
Well developed technical skills in Histology including: embedding, microtomy, frozen section, and special stains required
Proven ability to microscopically assess renal biopsies for adequacy is an asset
Technical training, skill and experience operating automated IHC/ISH platforms required
Ability to select the appropriate control materials for IHC/ISH and special stains required
Well developed skills to microscopically assess IHC control sections for quality assurance purposes required
Experience with a Laboratory Information System required: Meditech experience an asset
Experience with a pathology specimen Tracking system required
Proven ability to work independently
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Proven ability to work well within a team.
Strong customer service focus and job commitment
Demonstrates a positive and professional outlook in a rapidly changing environment
Demonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standards
Demonstrated commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required
Work Schedule:

The successful candidate must be available to work Monday to Friday 7.5 hour shifts. Start times 6:00am, 6:30am, 7:00am, 7:30am, 8:00am.
Please note schedules may change due to operational needs.
