Job Description
What You'll Be Doing
Leading the design and development of advanced scientific instrumentation and hardware, including systems operating in specialised and controlled environments
Developing test, validation, and commissioning plans to ensure safe, reliable, and high-performance system integration
Solving complex engineering challenges through analysis, innovation, and structured risk mitigation
Undertaking advanced engineering analysis and simulation, including FEA and specialist modelling tools, to support design integrity and performance
Collaborating closely with multidisciplinary engineering, scientific, and operational teams
Supporting operational systems through upgrades, troubleshooting, and ongoing optimisation
Mentoring and guiding junior engineers, contributing to technical capability and team development
What You Bring
Essential
Australian Citizenship is essential
Willingness to undergo and obtain a security clearance
Degree or higher in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering
Proven experience delivering complex engineering projects from concept through to completion
Strong ability to translate advanced technical requirements into practical engineering solutions
Proficiency in 3D CAD and finite element analysis (FEA) tools
Desirable
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
Genuine interest in science, research, and high-impact engineering innovation
A proactive and supportive approach to mentoring and knowledge sharing
