Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Design & Controls Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing automated control systems and electrical designs for machinery, equipment, and industrial processes. This role ensures systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry standards, while supporting product innovation and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Development
· Design of Electrical single line diagrams, Schematics, BOM, Junction Boxes layout and Panel Layout.
· Selection of switch gears and automation components.
· Preparing of Electrical Loads, IO List and Instrument Schedule.
· Designing of safety control systems (SIL levels).
· Design of Cable Schedules, Instrument loop drawings and TB Schedule.
· Designing of Electrical cable Tray routing, Loop diagrams from the Field to the Control System.
Selection of Electrical & Instrumentation BOM (Cables, Cable glands, Cable Trays, Instrument fittings, Junction Box, Earthing)
· Understanding of cable harness, Electrical Modules manufacturing, assembling and testing
· Hands on with 3D software’s such as (Catia, Solid works) is an added advantage
· Sound Knowledge in Development of Programming Logic Controllers (PLC) programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi)
· Working Knowledge on Automation software (Archestra, Wonderware Intouch)
· Hand on with commissioning of VFD and Servos (Powerflex 753,525 Kinetix 5500,5700)
· Configuration of controls networks including: Field bus Networks, Serial Communication, and Ethernet communications
· Troubleshoot issues with existing control systems communication protocols, etc.
· Development of scalable network architectures
· Provide on call support for system outages and failover incidents
· Ability to program state machines, data acquisition, and PID control.
· Willing to travel onsite for Installation and commissioning.
· Good communication, and presentation skills to work effectively and efficiently with diverse teams, internal and external partners
· Working Knowledge on AutoCAD Electrical & Eplan
Familiar with Codes and Standards: UL, CSA, CE, NEC (NFPA70)
Compliance & Standards
· Ensure designs meet electrical codes, safety regulations, and company standards.
· Maintain up-to-date knowledge of automation technologies and industry best practices.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical engineering or a related field.
• 3-8 years of experience in vendor development, preferably in a engineering/automation company.
Soft Skills:
· Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi).
· Experience with HMI/SCADA systems.
· Knowledge of CAD software for electrical design (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN).
· Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profinet).
· Understanding of safety systems (SIL, ISO 13849, NFPA 79).
Preferred Experience:
• Prior experience in 3-8 in SPM or Automation Design..
