Marketing and Communications Coordinator
Job Description
The Refugee Centre is a nonprofit community organization that supports newcomers in their integration journey in Montreal. We operate in person four days a week, Monday to Thursday, and offer a range of services and community events, including legal aid appointments and wellness support, delivered by a dynamic team of staff, interns, and volunteers.
We are seeking a motivated Marketing and Communications Coordinator to develop and implement marketing strategies, manage our social media platforms, and create content for our services and events. Reporting to the Outreach and Communications Director, the coordinator will work collaboratively with different departments to increase awareness of our organization, engage stakeholders, and support our mission.
Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Execution:
Continue and improve a marketing and communications strategy that aligns with The Refugee Centre’s mission, vision, and goals.
Identify key messaging and positioning strategies to enhance public awareness of The Refugee Centre’s work and impact.
Brand Management:
Maintain and enhance the Centre’s brand image across all communication channels
Ensure consistency and clarity in messaging and visual identity in all materials and digital platforms.
Content Creation & Digital Marketing Management:
Manage, support and collaborate with the Communications Agent and other relevant departments to:
Content creation for the website, social media channels, email newsletters, blogs, press releases, and marketing materials.
Manage digital campaigns to engage the community, raise funds, and build awareness about the refugee experience.
Optimize content for SEO, social media platforms, and other digital outreach efforts.
Record, edit, and produce podcasts to highlight programs, stories, and initiatives.
Measurement & Analysis:
Monitor, measure, and report on the effectiveness of marketing and communications initiatives.
Adjust strategies based on feedback and analysis to maximize impact.
Qualities/ Experience
Experience in marketing and communications, ideally in a nonprofit or advocacy context.
Strong understanding of digital marketing, including social media management and platforms, SEO, content creation, and email marketing.
Knowledge of Canva - Other creative programs considered a considerable asset (Adobe Premiere Pro, Audition, InDesign, Illustrator, Descript, Mailchimp, Webflow, etc.)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French (fluency in both languages is required)
Willingness to learn new skills and platforms
Organized, detail-oriented and takes initiative
Adaptable & able to work quickly when necessary
