Maintenance Technician | Metlifecare

Help create safe, comfortable, and welcoming communities for our residents.

Metlifecare is seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Technician to maintain our retirement village facilities and ensure residents enjoy a safe, well-maintained, and comfortable living environment. If you enjoy hands-on work and take pride in delivering excellent service, we'd love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance of buildings and facilities
Complete general repairs, including carpentry, painting, plumbing, and basic maintenance tasks
Respond promptly to maintenance requests from residents and staff
Coordinate external contractors for specialised repairs and projects
Maintain village grounds, pathways, lighting, and outdoor facilities
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and building standards
Keep maintenance records up to date and maintain tools and equipment
Provide friendly, professional service to residents and support village operations
Skills & Experience

Previous experience in building, facilities, or property maintenance
Practical skills in general carpentry, painting, plumbing, and repairs
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
Full New Zealand driver's licence
Preferred Qualifications

Trade qualification in carpentry, maintenance, or a related field
Experience in retirement villages, healthcare, hospitality, or residential property maintenance
Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements
Experience coordinating contractors and maintenance schedules
