We're now seeking a Maintenance & Fabrication Assistant to support our growth.
About the Role
As the Maintenance & Fabrication Technician, you will take a hands-on role supporting the installation of new machinery and the ongoing maintenance of a busy poultry processing facility. This role will initially focus on a major installation project, before transitioning into preventative maintenance and day-to-day plant support.
Working closely with the operations team, you will assist with fabrication, machinery setup, and ensuring all equipment is running efficiently in a fast-paced, environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assisting with the installation and commissioning of new processing equipment and machinery
Supporting fabrication tasks including modifications, assembly, and general metal work
Performing preventative maintenance on conveyors, chains, pumps, and processing equipment
Monitoring machinery performance and carrying out basic servicing (lubrication, adjustments, inspections)
Assisting with breakdown response and troubleshooting mechanical issues
Working across processing areas including kill floor, packing, and automated systems
Supporting setup of new systems including carton machines, mezzanine floors, and automated lines
Maintaining a clean and safe work environment in line with OH&S requirements
Operating forklifts and other equipment as required
Working both independently and alongside senior team members on projects and maintenance tasks
About You
Hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance, fabrication, or similar environment
Background in processing, manufacturing, or industrial environments (food industry experience highly regarded)
Basic knowledge of machinery such as conveyors, pumps, chains, and automated systems
Practical fabrication skills with the ability to assist in modifications and installations
Physically fit and comfortable working in a harsh environment (dust, noise, temperature variations)
Reliable, stable, and willing to learn with a strong work ethic
Able to work both autonomously and as part of a team
Requirements
Driver’s License required
Forklift License (LF) required
Trade qualification (Cert III Mechanical Engineering) preferred but not essential
Availability to work Tuesday to Saturday roster
Willingness to work in a poultry processing environment
Additional Information
Casual role to start, with opportunity to transition to permanent
Standard hours: 8:00am – 4:00pm (approx.), Tuesday to Saturday
Part time can be considered
Immediate start available
Involvement in a major machinery installation project, with training provided (including upcoming equipment rollout)
