Overview
The Maintenance Engineer is a critical member of our hotel leadership support team, responsible for ensuring a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for both guests and team members. This hands-on role focuses on maintaining the property’s physical structure, mechanical systems, and overall appearance while responding efficiently to daily needs and unexpected issues.If you take pride in your work, enjoy problem-solving, and thrive in a hospitality setting, this role is for you.
Duties
Promote and uphold safe work practices throughout the property
(CPO certification required or must be obtained)
Assist with renovation projects and capital improvements
Maintain organized maintenance shop and monitor inventory and supply levels
Respond promptly to emergency maintenance situations
Perform seasonal exterior maintenance (landscaping, snow removal, exterior painting as needed)
Communicate property condition updates to the General Manager and department leaders
Stay current with new tools, technologies, and best maintenance practices.
Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces
Manage and prioritize maintenance work orders to ensure timely completion
Diagnose and repair issues related to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical systems
Complete general repairs including painting, drywall, caulking, tile, flooring, and minor construction
Oversee pool operations, including chemical balancing and equipment maintenance
Requirements
Minimum 3 years of building maintenance or engineering experience
(Hotel or hospitality experience strongly preferred)
Strong working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems
Proven hands-on skills in painting, drywall, roofing, and general repairs
Trade certification or formal training (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.) is a plus
Ability to remain calm and effective during emergency situations
Strong communication, customer service, and teamwork skills
Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines
Basic computer skills for maintenance logs and communication
CPO certification or willingness to obtain within designated time frame.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $19.00 per hour
