Our Opportunity

Work Location: Perth. Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.



Roster: Monday to Friday.

The Legal, Governance and Compliance Assistant provides high-quality legal administrative and secretarial support to Fortescue’s Governance and Compliance team.



In this role you will assist in the preparation, formatting, maintenance and coordination of documentation and records, in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and internal standards across all jurisdictions in which Fortescue operates.

The successful candidate will be reliable and detail-oriented to contribute positively to team outcomes and support the effective delivery of Fortescue’s objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain and administer legal, governance and compliance registers, records, documentation systems, and filing processes to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance.
Provide administrative support for key compliance programs, including Anti-Bribery and Corruption, Gifts and Entertainment, Conflicts of Interest, Sanctions and Trade Controls, and Whistleblower reporting.
Coordinate the preparation, formatting, review and maintenance of policies, procedures, guidance materials and compliance documentation.
Support compliance risk assessments, audits and assurance activities through data collection, record management, reporting and follow-up actions.
Manage compliance-related correspondence, stakeholder enquiries and document exchanges, ensuring appropriate escalation and record keeping.
Assist in the coordination of compliance training, awareness campaigns and initiatives that promote ethical behaviour and a strong speak-up culture.
Provide administrative support for investigations, including information gathering, document collation, case management and confidential record maintenance.
Contribute to the effective operation of the global compliance team through stakeholder engagement, due diligence support, process improvement initiatives and general administrative coordination.
Qualifications and Experience

3+ years’ experience in a legal secretary, legal assistant or similar administrative support role.
Experience supporting legal, governance, compliance, risk or a related function in an ASX-listed environment desirable.
Exposure to business integrity compliance programs desirable.
Tertiary qualification in law, business, risk or related discipline.
Spanish, French, and/or Portuguese language skills desirable.
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Collaborative team player with a proactive approach.
